G+ / VG. 1st Printing of the 1965 Hill and Wang 1st Edition thus, translated and edited, with introduction, by Herbert Marshall and foreword by Maurice Bowra. Book has a hint of cocking, is securely bound (although gauze is beginning to show along gutter of chronology p64 and p128) lightly and uniformly age toned and free of markings and other blemishes; dyed top edge remains sharply red in color, with some age toning. Cover is clean and bright, showing some age toning, with sharp corners and joints, gently bumped and rubbed head and tail, straight spine, hinges and edges, and boldly legible, crisply distinct lettering and design. Dust Jacket is unclipped (reflecting original USD $10 price), encased in protective mylar and mildly age toned, with film of overall soiling, some minor chipping along the edges. corners, joints, and top and bottom of backstrip - none which impair legibility of lettering or clarity of design or Author image.
