Scenen viser et mĝde mellem en sċkaldt posekigger og en bondekone ved en af Kĝbenhavns porte. Posekiggerne skulle sikre, at ingen smuglede varer ind i byen, og Marstrand viser, hvordan den i ĝvrigt belevne embedsmands hund har opsnuset en solid skinke under konens kappe.
