William Henry Hudson was an author, naturalist, and ornithologist. Hudson's best known novel is Green Mansions first published in 1904. Green Mansions: A Romance of the Tropical Forest is an exotic romance of a traveler to the Guyana jungle of southeastern Venezuela and his encounter with a forest dwelling girl named Rima. In 1959, the book was adapted into a movie, also entitled Green Mansions, starring Audrey Hepburn as Rima, with Anthony Perkins as Abel. This historical work, which he is best remembered for, is from his 'Rivers of America' series. Against the background of the Wabash River and Valley, Wilson recounts the stories of LaSalle, George Rogers Clark, George Rapp, Robert Owen, and many more who made their mark on Indiana, the author's birthplace. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is generally smart and bright, with a little fading to the spine and to the upper extremities of the boards. Hinges are starting but remain firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper remains bright and generally smart, except for shelf wear to the folds and minor chipping to the spine and folds. Very Good.
