Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. [Many designs are probably unpublished in this format]. 73 pieces. Size of the "Gebruder Scholl, Zurich" scrapbook: 12 3/8 inches x 8 5/8 in. 12 sheets of gray, thick paper, forming 24 pages, with "spiderweb" design tissue guards. The scrapbook is covered in an "Art Deco" type geometric design, colored cloth, with black cloth binding cords, with small black beads and tassels. The spine and edges show light wear and tanning to the tissue guards (some have broken loose). Some of the mounted pieces show cracking to the pasted corners, light wear to the scrapbook. 73 pieces collected by Swiss-born artist and teacher Fred Rentschler, who has also contributed a few bookplate designs. Many are proof copies printed on a very thin paper; some are signed and dated (most from the 1916-22 period). From the personal collection of Swiss-born artist and designer, Fred Rentschler, who emigrated to America in the early 1920's, and later taught at the Cleveland [Ohio] School of Art. His collection contained examples of proofs & finished pieces of bookplates, new year's greetings, book illustrations, title-page designs, initial letters, etc. mainly produced by Swiss artists & designers, including this scrapbook. Some items may have been produced by graphic arts students at the Gewerbeschule, Zurich, Switzerland. Rare item. Partial list of contents: 1 Initial D (M.
