Die Entstehungsgeschichte und Einrichtung der Uebersetzung derselben [.] ist das erste, wovon wir Rechenschaft geben müssen. Als ich vor ein paar Jahren das Glük hatte, zu Berlin, in dem persönlichen Umgange mit meinem Martini, viele und unvergessliche Freuden zu genüssen, kamen wir unter andern auch auf den Lister zu reden. Das Werkchen: de Araneis, [.] welches ich seiner Seltenheit wegen noch nie gesehen hatte, gefiel mir vorzüglich [.]. Ich wunderte mich, dass noch keinem Naturforscher in den Sinn gekommen, eine deutsche Uebersetzung dieses ungemein seltenen Werkchens zu liefern. The German Lutheran theologian, orientalist, and superintendent of Lübeck, August Peiffer (1640-1698) had a stong influence on the thought of Johann Sebastian Bach. The present collection presents a forceful attack against the scriptures of Judaism and Islam.
