Boards show light wear, splash mark to lower front, stain at lower rear edge. Red decorated panel lightly chipped at mid-right edge. Foxing, water stained almost throughout at lower half of pages, through to endpapers. With b&w plates. Contents clear and legible. Front endpapers quite browned, but handwritten inscription inside front cover, with a quote from Edwin A Bainbridge, a young Englishman killed in the eruption, with a note from the owner of the book about the quote being on Edwin's gravestone in Rotorua, visited by said owner of the book in March 1908. Owner's name penned at free front endpaper, leaf plucked by him in the gardens of the Rotorua Sanatorium has been affixed to the free front endpaper. This item is light and may attract less postage.
