First edition, 1912, with this, the preferred edition containing a plethora of posters from World War I when the medium achieved perhaps its greatest flowering. Frank Brangwyn dropped all other work and devoted all his time to making war posters. Index. Hinges reinforced. The List of Artists illustrated represents the most notable working in the period. Orig. maroon cloth, front cover paper label. Very good.

Light wear to the top and bottom edges else a fine copy. The dustwrapper has a couple of light stains on the spine and is a little rough on thbe edges else is fine as well. Scarce. Inscribed to American illustrator Edward Penfield by the author on a preliminary blank and with a tipped-in photo of the author's portrait.

Unbound. Condition: Very Good. Folio (7 ½" x 11 ¾"). One manuscript page of 13 lines written in a cursive hand, docketed on verso: "Charles Matlock, Bill of Sale". Creased along two horizontal folds, two faint dampstains at one edge and moderate foxing, very good and entirely legible. The document sets forth the terms of sale of "a certain negro boy named Cage about two years of age" purchased from Charles Matlock for $150 by John Matlock, both of Grainger County, Tennessee. The document is signed by Charles and two witnesses: Larkin Baker and Martin Cleveland. The low price recorded here suggests that Charles and John Matlock were likely blood relatives. An interesting primary source document.
