März 1914 in Dresden; 2003 in Stuttgart) war ein deutscher Maler und Wandgestalter. Von 1932 bis 1933 studierte Wagner an der Dresdner Kunstakademie, wo auch Oskar Kokoschka und Otto Dix zu seinen Lehrern zählten. Er floh 1945 aus Dresden nach Aalen, wobei vermutlich sein gesamtes vor dem Kriege gefertigtes Werk verloren ging. 1948 ließ er sich in Stuttgart nieder und begann wieder mit der Malerei, wobei surrealistische Werke entstanden. Ab 1952 wurden seine Schöpfungen zunehmend auf expressive Fragmente reduziert. Er bearbeitete nun die Oberfläche mit Sand, Draht, Wellpappe und ähnlichen Materialien. Von 1955 bis 1960 fertigte Wagner konstruktivistische Wandreliefs für öffentliche und private Bauten, hauptsächlich in Stuttgart, aber auch in Darmstadt, Köln, Böblingen, Mönchengladbach und Al Khums/Libyen. In den 1960er Jahren wendete er sich Tempera-Bildern mit raumbildenden Flächenformen zu. 1967 begann Wagner abstrakte Meditationsbilder in Op-Art zu fertigen, die ab etwa 1980 sich auf die geometrischen Grundformen Quadrat, Rechteck, Kreis, Dreieck beschränken. Seconde édition augmentée par rapport à la première parue vingt ans plus tôt au format in-quarto, de ce traité de chronologie des bénédictins. Elle a été revue par Dom Franc?ois Clément. Ce monumental ouvrage s'inscrit dans la production scientifique des érudits mauristes, à la suite des travaux de Mabillon ou Montfaucon. Classées thématiquement - conciles, papes, empereurs, califes, rois de France, doges de Venise, etc. -, les tables, ont été mises à jour jusqu'à l'année 1770 comprise. Ainsi, la dernière information concernant le règne de Louis XV mentionne-t-elle le mariage du dauphin avec l'archiduchesse Marie-Antoinette, le 16 mai. "Le poison subtil du jansénisme". Conçu par les bénédictins de Saint-Maur, Dom Maur Dantine, Dom Ursin Durand et Dom Charles Clémencet, L'Art de vérifier les dates fit l'objet peu après sa première édition d'une controverse initiée par les jésuites, auxquels leurs adversaires ne manquèrent pas de répondre. Le fer de lance de cette campagne du côté de la Compagnie fut le P. Patouillet, à travers différentes publications. Ainsi, dans le Dictionnaire des Livres jansénistes paru en 1752, il consacra 7 pages à l'ouvrage des savants bénédictins pour en relever toutes les traces du jansénisme qui s'y était glissé. Outre plusieurs passages litigieux présentés à titre d'exemples, dont ceux sur le moine franc Godescalc défenseur de la prédestination, certains papes ou conciles, le polémiste de la Société de Jésus notait que le premier auteur de la chronologie universelle, Dom Dantine, faisait l'objet dans la préface, d'une biographie très élogieuse, avec des références cryptées à son appel contre la bulle Unigenitus. Titre en rouge et noir, totalité du texte encadrée de 2 filets gras et maigre, bandeaux typographiques et culs-de-lampe. Fleuron de titre, vignette de dédicace aux armes royales et vignette d'en tête allégorique en taille-douce, le premier et la dernière dessinés et gravés par Bonaventure-Louis Prévost, l'interprète du frontispice de l'Encyclopédie d'après Cochin. Bel exemplaire en veau de l'époque. Comme dans d'autres exemplaires, la page 911, dernière avant la table, a été complétée, dans sa partie inférieure originellement vierge, par un carton de corrections imprimé, contrecollé.
