Cet ouvrage est divisé en 7 chapitres : les méthodes expérimentales de la psychogenèse ; l'instinct affinité spécifique et l'évolution morphologique ; l'élan psychogénétique, le sentiment intérieur et l'affectivité ; prise de contact avec le monde extérieur ; eupraxie et apraxie, gnosie et agnosie, mémoire ; symbolisme représentatif et pensée rationnelle ; les synthèses mentales. On trouve in fine un index analytique et alphabétique des matières, un index bibliographique (pp. 207-215) et un index alphabétique des auteurs cités (pp. 217-221, soit plusieurs centaines d'auteurs).
