La Revue indépendante est une revue de littérature et d'art, publiée entre 1884 et 1897, et qui devient progressivement la tribune la plus importante des symbolistes. Georges Chevrier fonde, en 1884, la revue avec Félix Fénéon comme rédacteur en chef. Il donne une impulsion naturaliste à la revue avec des publications d'auteurs tel qu'Huysmans. Félix Fénéon est à l'origine d'une vingtaine de revues symbolistes et anarchiques, dont la Revue Indépendante. Il est destitué par Edouard Dujardin, qui a fondé la Revue Wagnérienne et dont il s'inspire pour le contenu de la Revue Indépendante. Se succèdent à la rédaction de nombreuses personnes dont François de Nion, Jean Ajalbert ou encore Georges Bonnamour, chacun apportant une dimension nouvelle à la revue.
