Inscribed (personalized) and signed by author on title page. In very good condition with light bumping to edges and corners and light overall scuffing. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. [From back cover] Pre-Columbian Sailors Changed World History is about the spread and diffusion of plants, animals, diseases, and culture across the world's oceans long before Christopher Columbus ever sailed from Europe. This book details, in an easy-to-understand fashion, the abundance of evidence available proving that humans from tropical cultures around the world sailed across both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans long before the European Christian Age of Expansion. These earlier sailors brought plants, animals, and some diseases as well as shared cultural traits with other societies they met across the oceans. The evidence shows that mariners sailed from the Americas to China, India, many of the Pacific Islands, Africa, and the Middle East as well as to the Americas from Asia, Africa, India, some of the Pacific Islands, and Northern Europe. This book is a must-read if one wants to understand the true spread of civilization and cultural sharing around the tropical and subtropical worlds by non-European, non-White cultures. In this day of rising fear of foreigners it is imperative that we acknowledge and celebrate the contributions to world culture made by the people of the tropics. Signed by Author.

In 2020, an extraordinary trove of nearly a thousand photographs taken by Paul McCartney on a 35mm camera was re-discovered in his archive. They intimately record the months towards the end of 1963 and beginning of 1964 when Beatlemania erupted in the UK and, after the band's first visit to the USA, they became the most famous people on the planet. The photographs are McCartney's personal record of this explosive time, when he was, as he puts it, in the 'Eyes of the Storm'. 1964: Eyes of the Storm presents 275 of McCartney's photographs from the six cities of these intense, legendary months - Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami - and many never-before-seen portraits of John, George and Ringo. In his Foreword and Introductions to these city portfolios, McCartney remembers 'what else can you call it - pandemonium' and conveys his impressions of Britain and America in 1964 - the moment when the culture changed and the Sixties really began. 1964: Eyes of the Storm includes: - Six city portfolios - Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami - and a Coda on the later months of 1964 - featuring 275 of Paul McCartney's photographs and his candid reflections on them - A Foreword by Paul McCartney - Beatleland, an Introduction by Harvard historian and NewYorker essayist Jill Lepore - A Preface by Nicholas Cullinan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery, London, and Another Lens, an essay by Senior Curator Rosie Broadley In a mint unread condition which has been professionally stored since publication date. Slight lean to the boards, else fine in near fine silver dust jacket with light edgewear. Presentation Copy, Inscribed by George Harrison on the title page to comedian Eric Idle and his family, to which he has cheekily added his own versions of the remaining Beatles' signatures. The book is accompanied by an Autograph Note Signed by Idle explaining: "These 'Beatles' signatures were all 'signed' by George Harrison when he visited me the year before he died. Eric Idle." Along with a letter of authenticity Signed by Idle, as well as signed custom bookmark. George Harrison was a close friend of the Monty Python star and very supportive of Idle's work on The Rutles, even making a cameo in the television mockumentary *All You Need is Cash*. Later, when EMI Films withdrew funding for *Monty Python's Life of Brian*, Harrison arranged financing for the film through the formation of his HandMade Films company. A wonderful association copy of this massive oral history, inscribed by one of The Beatles to his good friend and fellow entertainment legend.

First edition of the book companion to the classic Beatles album. Small octavo, original illustrated boards. Signed by Ringo Starr on the front panel, with the signature slightly faded. In very good condition. Yellow Submarine is a 1968 British animated musical fantasy comedy film inspired by the music of the Beatles, directed by animation producer George Dunning, and produced by United Artists and King Features Syndicate. Initial press reports stated that the Beatles themselves would provide their own character voices; however, aside from composing and performing the songs, the real Beatles participated only in the closing scene of the film, while their cartoon counterparts were voiced by other actors. The film received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, in contrast to some of the Beatles' previous film ventures. It has also been credited with bringing more interest in animation as a serious art form. Time commented that it "turned into a smash hit, delighting adolescents and aesthetes alike".
