Softbound. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. The record of a visit to China by a delegation of Quakers, led by McClelland, a British Quaker scholar and businessman. The visit, just prior to Mao's treacherous 100 Flowers Campaign, included Canton, Peking, Tientsin, Shanghai, Nanking and West China. The group met with many prominent diplomats, businessmen and political figures, the highlight of which was an audience with Prime Minister Chou Enlai. A fascinating account of early Communist China, clearly marked on the cover "For Private Circulation Only". Lightly creased down the middle, otherwise all pages clean and unmarked - a very good copy. 40 pp. Size: 22 x 14 cm.
