In 1941, Jim Rayburn split off of the MBC and started the Young Life ministries to take a more relational approach to youth minsitry. After her divorce, Evelyn was looking to fix her "broken life." She spent some time in California and eventually moved back to Portland, Oregon with her parents where a teacher asked her to teach the Bible to a group of high school girls. Determined to educate herself, Evelyn attended a college in Missouri where she met her husband, George McClusky. His first pastorate was in St. Paul, Minnesota. Through her excellant use of storytelling, the club grew in chapters and came to be known as the Miracle Book Club." (from Prezi website); 78p. pages; Pictured 5/21/26.
