This is the catalog of the first exhibit to be held in the Dog Museum of America (New York City) - Best of Friends: The Dog and Art (1982). The museum opened in 1981 in the Manhattan offices of the American Kennel Club. After many contributions from dog food companies and dog enthusiasts, the museum outgrew its New York space and moved to St. Louis, MO in 1986. There it has been able to accumulate many pieces of art pertaining to depictions of dogs.
