Wraps. Stapled. Unknown. Does she, or does she not, submit to a boyfriend before marching down the aisle to Wagner? As a reprint from "The Catholic World", could the suspense have been simply overpowering as the reader, desperate for guidance, her heart beating as she (or he) raced through the 29 page exegesis on this fraught matter? N.d., circa 1951. The booklet is 16mo, 15 by 9 cm. [4], 29 pp. Scarce. OCLC records only three copies (Notre Dame, General Theological Seminary, Millerville), all in a single entry. That entry describes the publication as 15 pages, and the dimensions of the page a little larger 18 cm). This greater height isn't enough to account for the reduction in page number, unless the page with was considerably wider than we would expect, it seems to us. That edition also has no date; the listing gives a date of April,1929, which is when the piece appeared in "The Catholic World". Ours cites the original source without giving its date. Based on this we can't judge whether this other printing came before or after, but our guess is that there are probably enough differences to make the two of equal interest. For us, the highlight is the cover art that looks like what one would find on a cheap pulpy paperback. We give our date as 1951 because the number "51" is printed on the mostly blank rear cover next to a small emblem. We don't know really what the number signifies, but the year of issue seems plausible, especially since it is consistent with the cover art and the attire on the anxious young women. The cover has a dusty film of soiling. Otherwise, the booklet is clean.
