Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Plus. No Jacket. SIGNED and inscribed in gold ink to the ffep, "With much love to ______, from Mrs. Mac, September 15, 1954". Without dustjacket. Interior is clean and solid and appears unread. Bright gilt titles to spine and front board. Red cloth boards are moderately bumped to extremities, smal…l "ding" to the top edge and a bit of fraying to the foot of the spine. I'm assuming that "Mrs. Mac" is the nickname of the co-author Clara Anderson McDermott; however, I'm not able to state this categorically. The history of a horrific fire in Hinckley, MN on September 1, 1894 that claimed 418 lives.

Contact seller5-star sellerMcDERMOTT, Clara. [With Antone A. Anderson]. THE HINCKLEY FIRE. NY: Comet Press Books, [1954]. 8vo., 8vo., red cloth in dust jacket. First Edition. The true story of a boy who came back to life to survey one of America's most terrible tragedies, the Hinckley, Minnesota wild fire of Sept. 1, 1894, where 418 lives were lost. Signe…d by either McDermott or Anderson on the front endpaper: "April 11th, 1955. Anton A. Anderson, Chilsolm, Minn. and Clara Anderson, Portland, Oregon." The handwriting for both signatures is the same so I am not sure which author penned it- but I am guessing McDermott. An uncommon title and especially so signed. Very Good (contents clean & tight, few minor bumps front cover); little soil & rubbing (frew short tears) d/j. $150.00.
