The book is in generally clean, bright condition. There is a small crack to the bottom front spine joint that only affects the bronzed cloth. There are spots of toning to the book covers, along with several patches of ground-in dirt. The text pages are clean and bright, though there is some light rippling to some pages due to moisture. Built in 193637 for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, the island was named by Clyde Milner Vandeburg, part of the Fair's public relations team.
