Contributed to award-winning children's literature: Her illustrations are part of Mountain Born, a Newbery Honor book. She illustrated Amos Fortune, Free Man, which won the Newbery Medal (her artistry contributed to this major award). ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.

Large square 8vo; blue cloth covers, worn and discoloured at edges; black cat in centre with ball of string; spine worn; gift inscription on fep; some foxing; foreward by author's wife, Elizabeth Yates; book essentially comprises of full page black and white photographs of animals. Teachers, mothers & childrens were asked what animals children liked best. The 22 photographs are the combined answers. The aim was to keep the pictures simple and fundemental; to show the animals clearly and naturally and where possible in their own surroundings. Thgere may not be words, but there are certainly stories to tell. Pages coming away at tops and btoom of spine. Certainly this has been a much loved book. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
