hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First edition. A history: Danbury is called "Hat City" because it was once the center of the American hat industry, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The city became a major hub for hat production, with numerous factories operating there and producing…a significant portion of the hats worn in the United States. Danbury's hat industry thrived, and by 1887, thirty factories were producing approximately 5 million hats per year. McLachlan formed the S.A.G. Hat Company in 1904, and in 1909 Mr. McLachlan and Frank H. Lee formed a partnership under the name of the Lee-McLachlan Co., which continued until 1914, when the partnership was dissolved and H. McLachlan & Co.,Inc. was incorporated. Flexible Morocco binding with gilt title, emblem. Housed in original box as issued. book.
