"Borderland Sciences Research Foundation is a California non-profit research and education organization, founded in 1951 by Meade Layne for the purpose of studying parapsychology and extended consciousness. It has since expanded in scope to traverse as broad a path of the grand terrain of the borderland as may be uncovered by human perceptions (and perhaps even further). The main goal of Borderland Sciences is the curation and distribution of historical papers and books on energy, healing, and consciousness, providing a framework for understanding and continued research, and offering support to scientific minds exploring the unconventional regions of thought we call "borderland".".

Two volumes of notes from a series of seances that occurred between September 1946 and April 1947, in which trance medium Mark Probert (1907-1969) communicated with a number of entities from other realms (Probert billed himself as A Telegnostic from San Diego who channelled messages from the Inner Light). Organized by early ufologist and parapsychologist Newton Meade Layne (1882-1961), selections were first published in Layne's two mimeographed newsletters, Round Robin and Flying Roll, which were affiliated with his Borderlands Science Research Associates. Side-stapled mimeographed sheets (10" x 7"), 26 p.; 59 p. Both volumes with light edge wear, owner's name to the top of the first leaf of each volume. One copy of part 2 at California State Library, but no other holdings in WorldCat. Scarce.

Second edition (we can know this by the fact that it bears a Vista [CA] imprint). The thirteen seances herein reported were held on September 1946 through February of 1949. Quarto (8 1/2 x 11 inches). 130; 28; 34; 38; 35, [1]; 30; 35, [1]; 30; 28; 32 pp. Each of the thirteen parts has it's own title page and is separately indexed. Original two-brad paper folder binding. Very clean.Meade Layne was an intriguing individual. A serious occultist based out of San Diego Meade began publishing a mimeographed newsletter titled "Round Robin" in February of 1946. After the October issue came out Layne gained overnight fame when the wire service carried a story of Layne's claims of a medium who was in telepathic communication with people in a space ship. That medium was Mark Probert and he was an industry unto himself for a very long time. An ex-vaudevillian, Probert burst on the scene with his channeling of numerous individuals (among them E Yada di Shi-ite, Lao-Tse, Martin Lattimore Lingford, Ramon Natalli, The Maharajah Natcha, Prof. Alfred Luntz, Arakashi, Michael Faraday, Thomas Carlyle, Ali Ben Casi, Dr. Sukuto Nikkioi, Sister Theresa Vandenberg, Kay Ting, and Lo Sun Yat). He left behind the Victorian modality of making money from his seances and gained quite a bit of credibility for himself and his followers by doing that. During the 1947 flying disc craze, the media again quoted Layne on his ethership theories. Layne speculated that, rather than representing advanced military or extraterrestrial technology, flying saucers were piloted by beings from a parallel dimension, which he called Etheria, and their "ether ships" were usually invisible but could be seen when their atomic motion became slow enough. He further claimed that Etherians could become stranded on the terrestrial plane when their ether ships malfunctioned and that various governments were aware of these incidents and had investigated them. "As far back as 1947, when most people were just hearing the term ?flying saucers? for the first time, Mark Probert had already rejected myopic materialism, and was telling the world that perhaps the very fabric of reality was quite different than our model of it. And though wrapped in a presentation that borrowed heavily from theosophy, spiritualism, and the vaudeville stage, Probert?s ideas foreshadowed an important direction that one school of thought was to take in the future. This move away from the idea of UFOs as a nuts and bolts phenomenon, and towards a more blended view involving theories of consciousness, human cognition, and quantum theories of time and space is one that is fast gaining momentum today" (Stephen Canner ?Mediated Signals"). And while Mark Probert has faded away Layne's ideas of an 'Ethership' have undergone a radical transformation and now form the basis for the dominant school of ufology; The UIH. The interdimensional UFO hypothesis (IUH) is the proposal that unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings are the result of experiencing other "dimensions" or "portals" that coexist separately alongside our own. This hypothesis has been embraced by such heavyweight ufologists as Jacques Vallée, John Keel, and J. Allen Hynek. And the origin for the whole movement lay in the Mark Probert seances here presented. The Memoranda are very scarce with OCLC locating zero copies. Layne has included his introduction for the first edition of these transcripts but those were run off in the 40s and these are obviously later. Both are very rare with these likely having been printed in the early 1960s. Included are three issues of Ray Palmer's Mystic magazine from the 1950s entitled Mystic, including the seminal issue of August 1954.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Where do UFOs really come from Layne holds an inter-dimensional, etheric-based theory. He terms those from the other realms as Etherians and the UFOs themselves sometimes appear as living creatures, referred to as aeroforms. Much of the information was corroborated by the scientific work of Trevor James Constable or came directly from intelligences channeled through Mark Probert, the greatest psychic medium of his time. Do not discount channeled material until you read this book. Layne was scientific in his approach until hearing Probert's amazing messages, which independently verifies his research. Covers propulsion systems, vibrational frequencies, and the sudden appearance of these craft more accurately than most scientific books on this subject have ever done.
