Large 4to (176 x 243 mm). (10), 1012 pp. Letterpress title printed in red and black. With engraved title page and a full-page engraving; several woodcut initials and headpieces. Contemporary full calf with gilt cover borders and gilt spine with label. All edges gilt; traces of goffering. Coloured paper pastedowns. First edition. - "A commentary on the Gospel according to Saint Matthew" (Nersessian). In 1717, Mechitar of Sebaste had "founded near Venice the Convent of San Lazaro, where many editions of the Armenian scriptures have been printed" (Darlow/Moule 1784). A few years previously, the author had edited the complete Armenian Bible for Bortoli. - Some browning and waterstaining, but on the whole tight and well-preserved.
