Pascoal José de Melo Freire dos Reis (Ansião, April 6, 1738 - Lisbon, September 24, 1798), or simply Pascoal José de Melo, was a noted jurist, professor, magistrate, statesman and scholar of the History of Portuguese law. He was a student and lens of the University of Coimbra and a partner of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. In 1775, Prince Regent D. João named him Appeals Judge of the House of Supplication, one of the highest positions of the Portuguese magistracy.
