Giovanni Stefano Menochio (1575 - 1655) was an Italian Jesuit biblical scholar. After entering the Society of Jesus in 1594, he began training and teaching the classics, and became professor of sacred scripture and then of moral theology at Milan. Thereafter he began his long life of superiorship. He was successively superior of Cremona, Milan, and Genoa, rector of the Roman College, assistant of Italy and admonitory to the Fathers-General Vincenzo Carafa and Francesco Piccolomini. Qualche macchiolina d inchiostro, alcune carte con piccolo foro di tarlo che non lede il testo, poche pagine brunite, ma buon esemplare nel complesso. Altre edizioni in Sapori. Dorso a nervi con titoli manoscritti. Qualche traccia d'uso, ma complessivamente esemplare genuino e ben conservato. Un'antica firma di possesso ed un timbretto al frontespizio. Ottima edizione del capolavoro del Menochio, giurista nativo di Pavia. Uno dei pochi (con Claro, Mascardi e Riccio) ad offrire un importante contributo alla giurisprudenza del Ius comune. Cfr.
