Album dépliant complet de ses 24 lithographies de Charles MERCEREAU, imprimées en sépia et finement coloriées à la main (10cm x 14 cm). Vues de Tarbes, Bagnères de Bigorre, Baudéan, Campan, Barèges, Luz, Saint Sauveur, Soulom, Saint Salvin, Beaucens, Argelès, Lourdes, Cauterets. Coloris d'une grande qualité avec des nuances de tons dans les feuillages. Charles Mercereau, né à Tarbes en 1822 et mort à Paris en 1864, était un dessinateur de vues et de paysages qui a collaboré à la réalisation d'albums tels "Ponts et cascades des Pyrénées", "La France de nos jours". Petite fente à un mors du cartonnage, intérieur très frais, sans rousseur. Le prix du port est calculé selon la destination et le poids du colis. Livres.

Beautiful lithographic view of the Roland Pass, a high mountain pass in the Pyrenees within the Basque country by the Cambo road. Roland, a French military commander was killed at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass. After his death he passed into legend, becoming the quintessential role model for knights and also greatly influencing the code of chivalry in the Middle Ages. There are numerous written works about the battle, some of which change and exaggerate events. The battle is recounted in the 11th century The Song of Roland, the oldest surviving major work of French literature. Two ladies on horseback are proceeding two male walkers.
