En frances, 318pp con numerosas litografias fuera de texto de Mesnel, falto de lomo en piel pero resto perfecto, Bibliotheque des ecoles et des families, SOBRE EL ILUSTRADOR:: "Bestiario" de Antonio Tempesta, y de otros autores, grabadores e ilustradore…s de la época: Andrés Ferrer de Valdecebro, Diego de Obregón, Noël Antoine Pluche, Albin Mesnel, y otros más contemporáneos como Claudio Gay y Mauricio Rugendas. 18 libros que nos introducirán a la "historia natural", y a la evolución de esta ciencia expresada en sus hermosas ilustraciones.Albin Mesnel nació en 1830, en la Manufacture des Gobelins, donde su padre era un artista de la tapicería. Durante su infancia, estudió dibujo bajo la dirección de MM. Mulard y Abel Lucas, profesores de la fabricante. En 1845, estudió para convertirse en un ilustrador de la naturaleza en el estudio de M. Delahaye, él mismo de haber sido un artista en la Manufacture des Gobelins. Mesnel retenido ese puesto durante unos diez años, contribuyendo a los grabados que se encuentran en la Enciclopedia de Chenu y l'Histoire des Picidés por M. Malherbe que siguió contribuyendo a incluso después de su salida del estudio. En sus emprendimientos independientes, contribuyó a muchas publicaciones como Le Monde de la mer por Moquin-Tandon, l'Univers por Pouchet, obras de ML Figuier en insectos, peces, reptiles, aves, mamíferos, etc, la Animaux de la France por M. Rendu, los Dictionnaire des pêches por el marqués de La Blanchère. En el momento de su muerte, estaba trabajando en un proyecto sobre peces con M. Moreau, así como en la Faune de Madagascar por M. Grandidier. Un gran número de libros ilustrados, el Magasin pittoresque, la revista La Naturaleza, muchas publicaciones de Hachette, el Tour du Monde, etc contiene su obra. Desde 1828 fue director del Museo de Historia natural de Rouen y del "Jardín botánico de Rouen. Luego, en 1838, fue profesor en la "Escuela de Medicina de Rouen". Su mayor obra científica Hétérogénie se publicó en 1859.
