Condition: Very Good. 7 pages, illustrated. The Wide World Magazine (1898-1965) captured the thrill of real-life adventure, bringing readers daring tales of exploration, survival, and discovery from across the globe. From treacherous expeditions to remote lands to gripping escapes from danger, it showcased the spirit of adventure that defined its era. The magazine also documented historical events and emerging travel trends, immersing readers in the unknown. With vivid illustrations and detailed narratives, it inspired generations to dream of far-off places, embodying the belief that "Truth is stranger than fiction." A rare chance to own a true artifact from the past. An authentic standalone article, extracted from a larger volume. Not a reprint or reproduction, but an original work in its own right. Preserved in a modern card cover, prepared for practicality - an unassuming but serviceable presentation that favours function over finery. Size: 16 x 22 cms. Illustrator: G. P. Carruthers. Category: Wide World Magazine Articles; Cosmo Books : 29 years on ABE, 47 years taking care of customers. A bookseller you can rely on. Softcover (Booklet - Unbound Pages). G. P. Carruthers (illustrator).

Original Printed Wrappers. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. San Francisco: Sierra Club, 1925. First Edition. Vol XII, No. 2, for 1925. This was published during a several-year time period when the Sierra Club did not stipulate the month of an issue, just the volume, the number, and the year- monthly designations for such an infrequent publication having always been somewhat unnecessary in any case. Original printed wrappers, 9 1/4" x 6 1/4", 102 pp. + unpaginated photographic plates, features and ads, including a plate fold-out with two panoramic wide angles, from Mount Hamilton, by William H. Wright. Very Good plus, really quite close to near fine; the major flaw being the common one that circuit binding (yapp binding) was used, in which cover edges were intentionally extended out beyond page edges, but over time the extended part becomes pressed inward somewhat (see scan). One notable rear-cover chip at top, about 1" x 1.5". Otherwise, just occasional very small points of cover wear. A very handsome copy. See scans. Binding sturdy, contents fine. See scan of contents page for the lineup of stellar club writers and their always engaging and adventurous topics. In addition to the graphics mentioned above, this issue is chock full of photographic plates by the club's best photographers, as well as others. In addition to a serious passel of photos by Walter Huber and Fred Herz, there are photo contributions by T.J. Hellman, Inez Mexia, William E. Colby, Joseph Dixon, H.P. Rankin, Frank H. Lewis, Philip S. Carlton, William H. Wright, Lee L. Stopple, Quong Jue, R.L. van Oosting, and several uncredited. SC2. Walter Huber, Fred Herz, T.J. Hellman, Inez Mexia, William E. Colby, Joseph Dixon, H.P. Rankin, Frank H. Lewis, Philip S. Carlton, William H. Wright, Lee L. Stopple, Quong Jue, R.L. van Oosting (illustrator).

Single Issue Magazine. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. San Francisco: Sierra Club, 1937. First Edition. February, 1937 [Vol XXII, No. 1]. Octavo, original printed wraps, 34 pp. graphic plates, mostly photograpsh, plus 118 pp. Near Fine; signature of the long-lived original subscriber, Ethelinda M. James, at top front and center, and a demure lower corner tweak (scans); otherwise, without flaw, and virtually as new in 1937. Very high grade example. Binding is, of course, sturdy. See scans. Eight outstanding photographs by the great Ansel Adams, and at the rear there is a Cedric Wright trifold spread panorama of the Sierra Nevada from the vicinity of Independence. Besides Adams and Wright, other contributors from the posse of photographic and illustrative talent in this issue were: Roy Curtis, Frank Webb, Lewis F. Clark, Henry E. Timby, Hervey Voge, Hermann F. Ulrichs, Dwight Watson, Ynes Mexia, Richard G. Johnson. Several topical sketches sprinkled throughout, as well. Articles (see scan of contents page) byFrancois E. Matthes, William E.Colby, Hervey Voge, Bestor Robinson, Louise Hewlett, Hermann F. Ulrichs, James N. Smith, Ynes Mexia, and Glen Dawson. And as always a variety of regular and special departments. Please review all scans. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box - not a bag. LSC2. Ansel Adams, Roy Curtis, Frank Webb, Lewis F. Clark, Henry E. Timby, Hervey Voge, Cedric Wright, Hermann F. Ulrichs, Dwight Watson, Ynes Mexia, Richard G. Johnson (illustrator).
