Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Psychologist Loche Newirth becomes hunted when he sees a painting that opens a window onto the afterlife. An ancient order of men seeking to control the art pursue him across the world, through centuries, into madness and beyond. The first part of Michael B. Koep's The Newirth Mythology-The Invasion of Heaven is mystery, adventure, myth, betrayal, murder and madness. Psychologist Loche Newirth wonders if it was his fall: the fifty foot drop from the rocky cliff to the icy water below. Is this why he has been hallucinating? Or is it because one of his clients is dead, or his mentor has gone mad, or that his wife is leaving him? He can't bring himself to believe what he has been seeing. Insane things like a massive, searching eye. He sees it in the water below the cliff. He sees it in mirrors, on walls: a massive, crystal blue iris and fathomless pupil there in the center of his life, looking at him. To find the answer, Loche pens the recent events of his life into a book and leaves the work behind for his mentor Doctor Marcus Rearden to interpret. As Rearden reads he plunges into the harrowing depths of Loche's reality: his loss of a client, the discovery of an unknown past, an ancient conflict over possession of the human condition, the awesome reality of the gods walking among us, and the crimes of humanity invading the hope that lies beyond the grave. And along the way, Loche tells of unforgettable characters: the torn and manic housewife that teeters on the edge of sanity, and a depressed, swashbuckling swordsman that believes he is over six hundred years old, the stoned and prolific painter and his perilous work he must keep secret, and the beautiful business woman that abandons her life's work for a love she never expected. Koep, Michael B. (illustrator).…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Imagine paintings that hold the secrets to the meaning of life and death or scribbled words that can alter the past and reshape the present. We know art imitates life but in Michael B. Koep s thriller fiction trilogy, the author brings the arts to life in an action-packed tale spanning seven centuries. In the spring of 1338, young William of Leaves knows only of remedies, herbs and his mother s kindness. When he is forced to watch as she is dragged to a witch s pyre by a mob led by the Bishop of London, the mysterious immortal apothecary, Albion Ravistelle, promises the boy a chance at vengeance. In the summer of 1972, Helen Storm is a stoned groupie on the Sunset Strip with a very special condition: she is immortal. When her life intersects with a famous guitar player, she is introduced to her future as a deadly and remorseless assassin. In present day, psychologist Loche Newith and Julia Iris must come to terms with Loche s prophetic writings that have changed the course of history and shaped the lives of William, Helen, and countless others. As a war breaks out between the immortals on earth and Albion Ravistelle, Loche must accept the realities he has authored and cross over into death he must enter again into Basil Fenn s paintings to find a way to end the conflict. In Part Two of The Newirth Mythology, Leaves of Fire, Koep entwines these lives and lifetimes as he explores myth, memory, revenge and the hope of forgiveness.…

Hardback. Condition: Good. The book offers a comprehensive account of how the world evolved to its present state in which humans now exercise a powerful, in many cases dominant, influence for global environmental change. It outlines the history that led to this position of dominance, in particular the role played by our increasing reliance on fossil sources of energy, on coal, oil and natural gas, and the problems that we are now forced to confront as a result of this history. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is greater now than at any time over at least the past 650,000 years with prospects to increase over the next few decades to levels not seen since dinosaurs roamed the Earth 65 million years ago. Comparable changes are evident also for methane and nitrous oxide and for a variety of other constituents of the atmosphere including species such as the ozone depleting chlorofluorocarbons for which there are no natural analogues. Increases in the concentrations of so-called greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are responsible for important changes in global and regional climate with consequences for the future of global society which, though difficult to predict in detail, are potentially catastrophic for a world poorly equipped to cope. Changes of climate in the past were repetitively responsible for the demise of important civilizations. These changes, however, were generally natural in origin in contrast to the changes now underway for which humans are directly responsible. The challenge is to transition to a new energy economy in which fossil fuels will play a much smaller role. We need as a matter of urgency to cut back on emissions of climate altering gases such as carbon dioxide while at the same time reducing our dependence on unreliable, potentially disruptive, though currently indispensable, sources of energy such as oil, the lifeblood of the global transportation system. The book concludes with a discussion of options for a more sustainable energy future, highlighting the potential for contributions from wind, sun, biomass, geothermal and nuclear, supplanting currently unsustainable reliance on coal, oil and natural gas.…

Hardback. Condition: Very Good. In Beating the Dow with Bonds, Michael O'Higgins, bestselling author of Beating the Dow and one of America's top-ranked money managers, provides a proven system for achieving the lowest-risk, highest returns in a chaotic stock market--investment advice requiring less than five minutes per year that will help you beat the pros 95 percent of the time regardless of market conditions. In 1989 Michael O'Higgins rocked the investment world. By following a very simple formula, he asserted, investors could beat the pros 95 percent of the time by putting 100 percent of their money into the "dog" stocks of the Dow. Not only did his formula work for nearly a decade, but the publication of Beating the Dow spawned a veritable industry, including websites, mutual funds, and $20 billion worth of investments, elevating the theory to legendary status. Now O'Higgins is back--and geared to rock the investment world again. With stock market fluctuations ranging from all-time highs to all-time lows, the King of the Dow Dogs insists that incorporating bonds--once considered the ugly stepsibling to stocks--into your portfolio is the only way to win. In Beating the Dow with Bonds, you will learn: how to tell when stocks aren't the best place to be for the highest returns--and where to go in the meantime how to protect yourself from radical market fluctuations and continue to beat the Dow a reliable, easy-to-understand method of assessing the attractiveness of T-bonds, T-bills, and stock in order to achieve the best return with the least risk why, in the thirty years since December 1968, this new strategy of asset allocation would have produced almost thirty times the cumulative return of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and S&P 500--and five times the cumulative return of a Beating the Dow five-stock strategy how investors would have gained annual returns of 24.1 percent using this new strategy--verses annual returns of 18.2 percent with a Dow-based, stocks-only strategy and an 11.2 percent annual performance by the DJIA and S&P 500. For in investors with as little as $5,000, Beating the Dow with Bonds provides a safer, more reliable opportunity to beat the Dow not just in today's market--but in any market. &nbsp.…

Hardback. Condition: Good. &nbsp.…
