Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine dj. Illustrated by (dj design) Michaela Sullivan (illustrator). First Edition. [a beautiful copy, both book and jacket as-new with no discernible wear]. SIGNED boldly by the author in blue ink on the title page. Parody of "Gone With the Wind" from the "other" (i.e.,black) point of view. Whether or not it successfully "explodes the mythology perpetrated by a Southern classic" is a question best left to the critics and cultural historians, but it certainly caused an apopleptic fit to be thrown by the Margaret Mitchell estate, the fussing and fuming of which nearly resulted in the book's being suppressed prior to publication. Fortunately the world eventually came to its senses, with the only noticeable after-effect being the unsightly giant red dot screaming "The Unauthorized Parody" that now graces the front panel of the dust jacket, for the benefit of the irony-impaired.
