Unbound. Condition: Very Good. Single sheet, thick paper stock, light beige in color. Sparta Poster #2. Offset lithography with fluorescent inks. Produced in May, 1967. A poster created at the height of the Hippie scene in San Francisco, combining psychedelic imagery, colors and lettering with pop culture references. The posters originated when Dave Schiller organized popular dances in the San Jose area. Needing to advertise he held a contest for a poster design. Jim Michaelson won, and they began a partnership, Sparta Graphics, that produced 16 posters from 1966 to 1968. Some of the designs were used by Dave Graham at the Fillmore, and gained fame for the unique, hippie style imagery depicting many popular bands. This poster features a variety of popular people and groups, including the Beatles, the Monkees, James Brown, Sonny and Cher, Bob Dylan, Muhammad Ali, and of course Snoopy. VERY GOOD condition. Minor bumping and wear along the corners.
