Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Vladimír Hipman, Sobeslav Peni?ka (illustrator). 1st Edition. (Vitkovice Iron Works in the Construction of the Republic) Quarto 30x21 cm., wrappers, (29) pp., with photographs by Vladimír Hipman, book design and archival illustrations by Sobeslav Penicka. A commemorative volume celebrating the continued production of the Zelezárný Ironworks in Vitkovice since 1828. Vladimír Hipman (1908-1976) was a trained architect who evolved into industrial photography, graphic design and exhibition management. His photography from the mid-1930's show an affinity with New Objectivity and Constructivism, and later viewed himself as the father of Socialist Realism in the 1950's. His works are eagerly sought by collectors since the Velvet Revolution. Here he contributes the cover and seven tipped-in photo illustrations. OCLC locates one North American holding (Chicago Art Inst) outside of the NKC in Prague.
