Le sue esibizioni (all'inizio tenute con il nome di Giannina Miller) suscitarono giudizi negat…ivi e critiche severe (che si iscrivevano nel quadro di piu' generale disapprovazione per la poesia estemporanea), ma anche entusiastica ammirazione, soprattutto nelle accademie e nelle colonie arcadiche, da quella del Velati Aternini dellÂ'Aquila a quella Properziana del Subasio. Da Napoli, dove tenne ventisette esibizioni durante i sei anni in cui vi risiedette, nel 1851 intraprese la tipica carriera itinerante degli improvvisatori con viaggi in diverse citta' del Regno, dove era invitata a tenere accademie da privati o da sodalizi letterari. Tra il 1850 e il 1860 fu a Napoli, in Puglia e in Sicilia, a Roma, a Firenze, a Bologna e infine a Milano, accolta nei più importanti teatri e salotti letterari, sempre incoraggiando alla lotta contro la tirannia e all'impegno per l'Unità d'Italia.
