More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Minor brown stain to fore edges textblock. Minor tear and crease to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Book has a slight forward lean. Visible wear and water marks to boards. …

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Edinburgh: Grant and Murray. 1932. 8vo. First edition. Publisher's green cloth lettered in black to the spine and upper board, in two jackets, both the first issue yellow jacket with red lettering, priced at 7/6 net to spine with the misspelled 'Warwick', and a pictorial design priced at 3/6 net to spine, corrected to 'Warrick'. The latter jacket with the tagline, 'a mystery tale of the Solway'. A very good copy, the cloth with a circular stain to front board (also affecting the second jacket). Corners and tips gently bumped, the binding tight and slightly rolled. Small amount of spots to textblock edges, very occasional spots within. The second dust jacket with several small nicks, front flap clipped, tape repairs to verso with some ghosting to corners. The first jacket darkened at spine, a little marked and bumped to extremities but very good. The author's debut novel. He wrote at least three mysteries, each set in the Scottish Borders. Little other biographical information exists about the author. Scarce.…

Original green cloth, lettered and stamped in black to the front panel and spine. 8vo - 208 pp. Previous owner stamp to the front paste-down, completely hidden by the front flap. The flap is clipped but a 3/6 price is present on the spine. Internally the book is clean and solid. The dust jacket shows a small chip at the juncture of the foot of the spine with the front panel. Some minor soiling and a faint vertical crease to the front panel. Two paper tape repairs to the verso of the jacket at both spine ends. Now very rare. Near Fine / Very Good.…
