La mappa fa parte dell'atlante, composto da quattro carte geografiche, pubblicato precedentemente nel 1853, atlante che come sempre Ë mancante a tutti gli esemplari repertoriati. Prima edizione di questo interessante resoconto sulle scoperte geografiche alla ricerca del passaggio a Nord - Ovest. L'autore veronese (1811 - Padova 1875), appassionato di geografia e cartografia, con questa opera "Scoperte artiche", dette notevole impulso alle conoscenze geografiche in Italia. Lo studio e' ancora oggi utile sia per l'ingente materiale documentario raccolto sia "per alcune osservazioni etnologiche sui lapponi e i loro contatti con il mondo ugro-finnico, e piu' in generale, uralo-altaico" (Pistoso, p. 381). A parte i pregi sul piano dell'informazione e dell'erudizione, non mancano al M. anche schiette doti narrative, per l'emozione che riesce a far vibrare nel racconto delle spedizioni pi? sfortunate. L'autore mentre descriveva, proprio del primo e secondo viaggio per terra di Franklin, del 1819, e del 1825 -27, non sapeva che la quarta ed ultima spedizione del 1845, avrebbe avuto un tragico esito. Le missioni per ritrovare l'equipaggio della spedizione Franklin, continuarono per tutto il XIX secolo. Bell'easemplare in barbe. Dorso con rinforzo di carta antica. Alcuni aloni alla mappa e antico strappetto restaurato.

Con 8 finisssime vignette incise in rame (una al frontespizio, le altre con funzioni di testate e finali) e iniziali calcografiche. Il Nome dell'autore, Aloysius de Miniscalchi compare nella dedica a c. A2r. Prima edizione di questo poema didascalico sulla gelsicoltura, l'allevamento del baco da seta ed in generale sull'agraria e con qualche cenno di Gastronomia (B.IN.G. 1313). Il volume si conclude con una serie di poesie di Miniscalchi sugli argomenti più disparati, tra cui quella sulla morte di "Pippi", il cane da compagnia dell'autore. Ottimo esemplare.
