An unusual author-inscribed presentation copy, apparently produced or assembled in a nonstandard format. Inscribed by Hurst on the front endpaper to Calvin Ward, dated May 16, 1974: "To Calvin Ward | Thank you for teaching the students of Production Management Packaging at Columbia college about Exhibitors, distributors, producers | Yours Truly, Walter E. Hurst 5-16-74." This copy incorporates numerous facsimile or source documents, forms, and authorial explanatory inserts. Typography and layout vary throughout, with portions appearing more closely reproduced from typescript or working copy than conventionally printed text. The copyright page has blank spaces where the Library of Congress number and limited-edition number would ordinarily appear. In comparison, catalogued copies of the standard 1970 7 Arts Press issue identify this as Volume 5 in The Entertainment Industry Series, with a stated limitation of 1,000 copies and Library of Congress number 79-121752. The present copy's relationship to that regular issue has not been established and is therefore offered as an unusual presentation copy with apparent production or pre-publication characteristics, rather than definitively identified as a proof or variant issue.
