Contact seller4-star sellerNo. 1 is a second edition (published the same year as the first though) and the other five numbers are all first editions. Six small octavo volumes. All in the publisher's variously colored printed wrappers. Some mild wear but very good; clean and tight. The titles are: The Mastery of Memorizing; Quickness of Perception; Eye and…Ear Memory; The Study of Languages; Memory and Thought; Memory Training of the Young.Downs did not propose a new scheme for memory retention or a new method. His goals were a bit loftier. "Mr. Downs is a warm advocate of the Vedic system, which he says makes the brain receptive to the impressions through all the sense-channels; and further makes such impression permanent. He aims at general and abiding memory power which is not only marvelous but almost miraculous" (Journal of Education; August 25, 1892).
