Hopkins Wrote "Dr. Schiller As A Man And Friend", Pacific Philosophical Quarterly 19 (1):12 (1938). "Formal Logic" Is A Long, Well Reasoned, Articulate And Unsympathetic Discussion And Rejection Of Logic As An Idea. Per Wikipedia, Ferdinand Canning Scott Schiller, Fba (German: [?1864 -1937), Usually Cited As F. C. S. Schiller, Was A German-British Philosopher. Born In Altona, Holstein (At That Time Member Of The German Confederation, But Under Danish Administration), Schiller Studied At The University Of Oxford, Later Was A Professor There, After Being Invited Back After A Brief Time At Cornell University. Later In His Life He Taught At The University Of Southern California. In His Lifetime He Was Well Known As A Philosopher; After His Death, His Work Was Largely Forgotten. Schiller's Philosophy Was Very Similar To And Often Aligned With The Pragmatism Of William James, Although Schiller Referred To It As "Humanism". He Argued Vigorously Against Both Logical Positivism And Associated Philosophers (For Example, Bertrand Russell) As Well As Absolute Idealism (Such As F. H. Bradley). Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. A Fine copy in a Fine dust jacket. The Dialect of Modernism uncovers the crucial role of racial masquerade and linguistic imitation in the emergence of literary modernism. Rebelling against the standard language, and literature written in it, modernists, such as Joseph Conrad, Gertrude Stein, T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, and William Carlos Williams reimagined themselves as racial aliens and mimicked the strategies of dialect speakers in their work. In doing so, they made possible the most radical representational strategies of modern literature, which emerged from their attack on the privilege of standard language. At the same time, however, another movement, identified with Harlem, was struggling to free itself from the very dialect the modernists appropriated, at least as it had been rendered by two generations of white dialect writers. For writers such as Claude McKay, Jean Toomer, and Zora Neale Hurston, this dialect became a barrier as rigid as the standard language itself. Thus, the two modern movements, which arrived simultaneously in 1922, were linked and divided by their different stakes in the same language.

This book is a work of religious education for devout Christian readers who are dissatisfied with the Roman Catholic Church's current stance on religious dogma. The author seeks to inform and inspire priests in particular to challenge the established authority's overly rigid adherence to outmoded church traditions such as priestly celibacy and dogmatic adherence to ancient texts. This book provides a comprehensive overview of Catholicism's evolution, arguing that the church's unwillingness to modernize and adapt to the changing world will lead to its ultimate decline. The author argues that it is not in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ to prioritize the preservation of tradition above all else, and that religious doctrine should not be immune from critical analysis and scrutiny. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
