Folding map of London covering the extents from Upper Holloway down to Putney (shown on a fold-out extension to lower left corner) and Stratford across to Hammersmith, scale 3 inches to the mile. Original colour in block and outline. The three mile radius from the G….P.O marked out with a thin red line, as is the 4 mile radius from Charing Cross. Some old pencil annotations to lower margin and right edge of plan. The whole backed onto linen, folds between dark blue cloth covers with title lettering and illustration of St. Paul's in gilt to upper board, marbled paper to inner cover and to folded end section on linen verso. Booklet (pp. 30) to inside cover with a street index to the map. Covers slightly worn. Surface of map slightly soiled and toned, paper cracked along some folds, otherwise good. No printed date, but c. 1852. The imprint on the map bears the name of E.S. Mogg with his Great Russell Street address, the firm moved to 26 Brydges Street in 1853. The Great Exhibition is shown in Hyde Park, Victoria Street also features, both opened in 1851. The Great Northern is shown running into Kings Cross, the station was opened in 1852.
