A fine copy.Erik Molin (1709-55), who probably was born in Gästrikland or Uppland in the eastern part of Sweden, had a passion for pietistic ideas in his youth and in the 1730s he was often criticized by the Church Council for his writings and preachings. In 1734 the right to preach was taken from him and he became the subject of a lengthy court process. The case was put to rest until the autumn of 1735 and during this time Molin chose to disregard the fact that he had been forbidden to preach. The result was that he was asked to leave Sweden, which he refused to do. He was put into custody for four years, after which he was condemned to exile. He travelled to Rostock, Altona, Amsterdam and other cities and during this period he published several works, many of which was written in an attempt to get his exile reversed. "Die wahre und lebendige" is probably the first work that he published in exile.
