A very handsome binding - each volume signed on the inside back cover "The Monastery Hill Bindery" stamped in gold. All 7 volumes dated 1833. Each has 20-25 full page engraved portraits. Memoirs accompany each, about 200 pages per volume. Each measures 7.5 x 11 inches. Front free endpaper of the first volume is detached but present, but other than that there are in excellent condition. As handsome as can be. The Monastery Hill Bindery is located in Chicago. It was founded in 1868 and is still up and running -- this set was likely bound in the final decades of the 19th century.
