It explores the complex relationship between the Catholic Church and the newly formed Sardinian government in the context of the broader Italian Risorgimento and European revolutions of 1848. In great detail, the author analyzes two individuals at the heart of these eventsâ"Giovanni Fransoni, Archbishop of Turin, and Lorenzo Gastaldi, Bishop of Astiâ"who found themselves at the center of a political storm in the wake of the liberal revolutions that defined the era. Ultimately, the account of their treatment by the state and their subsequent vindication points to the broader significance of the struggle between secular and religious authorities in 19th-century Europe. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

In 16 (cm 9 x 16), pp. 224. Legatura moderna in mezza tela (conservata all'interno la brossura editoriale). E. Genta Ternavasio, "Une tres-ancienne famille piemontaise. I Taparelli negli Stati sabaudi (XVII-XIX secolo).
