A Tale Of The Sea". 1839. + "The Spy; A Tale of The Neutral Ground" 1841. + The Last of The Mohicans. All with separate title pages. The Dr Bird title we assume is a first English edition, 1st published in the USA in 1838 also. The Porter work was originally published in 1809. "The Pilot" by Cooper was NOT given a separate title of its own until 1838 in the USA, as it formed part of a triple title set, here it HAS a title page. There is some foxing to a few leaves in The Pilot. but still good or better the remaining titles are all firm and tight and very good. Bound in a contemporary half-calf with marbled paper boards, some light rubbing at extremes. Contents generally Very good, contents complete. * The Peter Pilgrim title has these headed short stories or extra passages also: "A Night on the Terrapin Rocks," "The Mammoth Cave," and " The Bloody Broad-Horn." The Arkansas Immigrants," "The Fascinating Power of Reptiles.". Anna Maria Porter was an early almost forgotten female writer who enjoyed considerable success in her early life as an author brought up by her mother after her father a military surgeon, died quite young, all the family were artistic.
