Précieux recueil thématique de six ouvrages dénonçant la sanglante tyrannie exercée par le conventionnel Joseph Lebon (1765-1795) sur ses concitoyens de la ville d'Arras, pendant la Terreur. Ami de Robespierre qui était natif, comme lui, de cette ville, Lebon était un prêtre défroqué qui avait embrassé avec exaltation la cause révolutionnaire. Devenu maire d'Arras, administrateur du Pas-de-Calais et député à la Convention Nationale, il appliqua d'une main de fer le régime de la Terreur et mit en place les tribunaux révolutionnaires qui décidèrent de nombreuses exécutions. Après la chute de Robespierre, reconnu coupable et condamné à mort par un tribunal criminel, Lebon fut guillotiné le 16 octobre 1795. Il venait d'avoir trente ans. Accusé par les uns d'être l'un des acteurs les plus sanguinaires de la Révolution Française, décrit par les autres comme un révolutionnaire intègre et bon père de famille, Lebon suscita après sa mort une intense confrontation idéologique. Larousse consacre notamment un long article à la réhabilitation de "l'un des hommes de la Révolution sur qui la réaction s'est le plus acharnée". Le présent recueil réunit 6 ouvrages à charge contre Lebon, avec une multitude de faits, anecdotes et pièces justificatives. Divers passages concernent les exactions commises dans les prisons révolutionnaires, notamment à l'encontre des femmes. Tous ces ouvrages sont rares et seules les deux premières uvres du recueil sont citées par Quérard.
