Contact seller5-star sellerPoor condition. Oblong paperback publication staple-bound with additional cloth saddle-stitch; missing front and rear covers; fragment of black spine paper remains; binding staples rusted. H 22.25cm x L 28.5cm. Unpaginated but 53 leaves (106 pages) present. Initial and concluding leaves soiled and lightly toned; light wear to co…rners; some soiling to interior leaves. Lacks the front cover and thus no title specifically stated but presumably this is the circa 1940 publication "Views - Natchez, Mississippi." (Ketchings issued several editions/printings of the book through at least circa 1955 but this copy's paper and typeset appears contemporary to circa 1940.) First leaf present features undated publisher's imprint of Tom L. Ketchings Company on verso with blank recto; followed by single page verso essay titled "Natchez History" by Edith Wyatt Moore also with blank recto. Somewhat cumbersome layout to remaining 51 leaves as most feature uncredited b/w photographs on rectos with associated explanatory historical-architectural summaries on flip-side versos (rather than by a more reader-friendly opposing verso/recto layout). Initial image is of St. Mary's Cathedral and concludes with the Gloucester residence owned by Mr. and Mrs. Lenox Stanton. The image/summary sequence varies by edition but this copy has all of the structure summaries and photos which appear in later editions among this bookseller's past inventory so presumably it is complete save for the aforementioned covers. An uncommon publication documenting numerous residences and a few churches of Natchez and Adams County, Mississippi with mostly exterior views but some interior images as well.

Transylvania University, Fayett…e County, Kentucky. The list of those prominent individuals, Kentuckians and others, who attended Transylvania, or taught there, is impressive. "During his long life at Caddo Lake, Moore was at various times a boat operator, commercial fisherman, boat builder, farmer, fishing and hunting camp operator, guide, commercial h…unter, trapper, raftsman, moonshiner, oil field worker, water well driller, and mechanical jack-of-all-trades. Still, he always found time for his lifelong study of the natural and human history of Caddo Lake. Here, in words as fresh and forceful as the day they were uttered, is his tale.

Black paper covers with black plastic comb binding; mild curl towards spine; some edge scuffs/bumps covers; rear cover also has light creases and slight color fading. No publishing date provided but Ketchings issued several editions/p…rintings of this book from at least as early as 1940 through circa 1955; three-line ink ownership inscription on page 1 dated for April 19, 1947 so presumably this copy is circa 1945-1947.
