Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an epic poem that narrates the events of a sumptuous wedding held in the Tempio degli Amanti, or the Temple of Lovers, a magnificent fictional structure representing the grandeur of the Medici court in Florence, Italy. The author takes creative license to invent a grand spectacle where mythical figures such as Venus and Cupid, allegorical personifications of virtues such as Magnanimity, and historical figures from antiquity such as Alexander the Great, interact with the guests, who are a colorful cast of noblemen and ladies, artists, and poets, all celebrating the marriage of two illustrious lovers. The main subject of the book is, therefore, the wedding and the festivities surrounding it, meant to represent the height of culture and sophistication of the Medici court. Marca calcografica al frontespizio, in cornicetta a doppio filo. Capilettera ornati. Edizione sconosciuta anche all'Albertazzi". Graesse, IV, 601, segnala l'edizione 1651. 200 gr.…
