The map is missing in this set, some slight foxing throughout. Rare work on Central America.Arthur Morelet (1809-1892) was a French natural scientist (we have also several of his papers on molluscs, please inquire), and was the first to explore the vast territory of Guatemala. Morelet indicated that he had deposited at the Museum 90 cryptogamic plants, 150 species of molluscs which were still undescribed, 32 species of unknown fish, 104 reptiles, 70 birds and 57 mammals, furthermoere he made important observations on the geography, ethnology and archeology of the areas visited.
