Staple Bound Pamphlet. Condition: Good. Second Printing. Second printing of this notable compendium of words about and referring to women, most with dictionary citations, some with examples of usage; with essays on the use of language to oppress women, and sexism in language in general. In two general sections, "Patriarchal Epithets", with many subsections noting various ways women are categorized; and "Patriarchal Stereotypes". The Guide was the result of conversations among a group of Chicago feminists at a writers workshop; a second volume was planned but did not materialize. According to an (intentionally?) sexist New York Times article, the first printing of 1000 copies was rapidly selling out; this is the stated second printing, with the old YMCA address inked out in a few places, with some bleed-through, and the new Feminist English Dictionary address rubberstamped in. Mildly ex-library, with a stamp & cancel stamp on the first page. Stapled pamphlet, about 5½ by 8½ inches. Covers tanned, faded, stained; some internal marks, as noted; text clean; [3], ix, [4], 50, [6] pages; poem, bibliography. Size: 5½" by 8½".
