Cinque tavole constano di parti mobili, segnatamente le tavole contrassegnate dalle lettere F, G, I, O e R. Nel nostro esemplare non sono presenti le parti mobili delle tavole G (roccia che nasconde ?la prima Cella habitata da Padre San Francesco?), I (roccia che impedisce la vista del ?meraviglioso masso ? sotto il quale diceva il Padre San Francesco i sette Salmi?), ed O (?parapetto di ferro?); mentre sono presenti quelle delle tavole F (?ingraticolato con armi antiche") e R (due massi sovrapposti che coprono ?il letto del Padre San Francesco?). Vecchi restauri conservativi al margine di alcun 2500 gr.

In-folio (mm 465x325), 1 antiporta incisa raffigurante San Francesco contornato da stemmi e trofei (firmata:"Dom.cus falcinius fecit flor.s-Iacobus Ligozzius Inventor"), carte [2] (dedica datata: "Di Fiorenza il dì primo di Giugno 1612" e avviso ai lettori), con tavv.22 inc. in rame, di cui 2 ripieg.,… segnate "A-Y" (di cui la "N" e "R" con una parte mobile ciascuna), carte [22] di descriz., alternate alle tavv. e decorate da cornici xilogr. Legatura coeva in mezza pelle (un po' lisa), piatti in perg. Un rest. nella parte infer. di una tav., qualche foro di tarlo riparato, lievi minori difetti, ma buon esemplare. Presenti 4 (su 6) parti mobili collocate alle tavv.I,N, R. Dette parti mobili consistono in sagome ritagliate con dettagli architettonici o naturalistici, sovrapposte alle tavv. principali, al fine di creare effetti tridimensionali. Data la loro fragile funzione mobile e la conseguente tendenza a staccarsi, se ne riscontra la sovente mancanza, tanto che è quasi impossibile riuscire a trovare esemplari totalmente integri. E' da notare, inoltre, che la bibliografia consultata (che peraltro definisce questa edizione di per sé "rarissima") non fa alcuna menzione di parti mobili. Prima edizione di un'opera di grande rarità, da considerarsi come uno dei più bei libri figurati del '600. Le grandi tavole, molte delle quali raffiguranti paesaggi naturali con scoscendimenti rocciosi della Verna, sono assai suggestive e vennero disegnate dal vero da Jacopo Ligozzi (Verona 1547 c.a-Firenze 1627), che accompagnò il Moroni nel viaggio del 1607 in quei luoghi. Moreni, II, 100: "Rarissima. E' dedicata a Fra' Arcangelo da Messina Arcivescovo di Monreale, e Generale dei Minori Osserv., a persuasione del quale mostra di averla intrapresa. I Disegni sono del celebre Pittore Iacopo Ligozzi Veronese stato per molto tempo a Firenze al servizio dei Sovrani, e condottovi là per tale oggetto nel 1607. I sudd. Rami, che sono in num.di 23, e che intagliati furono da Domenico Falcini, sono accompagnati da una spiegazione, e sembra, che in appresso dovesse venire in luce una descrizione più ampla in parole di questo medesimo Santuario. Fu ristampata in Milano per il Bianchi per opera di Fra' Timoteo Canavese da Milano Min. Osserv. Rif., e dedicata all'Eminentiss. Card. Alfonso Litta Arcivescovo di Milano". più recenti hanno individuato l'apporto incisorio di Raffaello Schiaminossi, autore dei rami accanto al Falcini. Cfr.
