Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. This G+ quality book was published by Goldsmith in 1936; it is 8-3/16" tall with 248 numbered pages; there are no illustrations. The book has a slight lean, is reasonably clean, free of edge dings and with both lower corners bumped without fraying; head and heel of the spine are bumped with some dolor loss but no fraying. There is no fading but the entire exterior has mild soiling. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very toned but is still flexible and not yet brittle; end pages have a modest amount of toning. The hinges are very strong and not damaged in any way. The very colorful G+ jacket has tiny chips at the four corners and at the heel and head of the spine; the head also has creases and folds but no lettering is lost. There is a 2" tear at the bottom of the front fold. Considering its vivid coloration, it is remarkably free of fading though the colors are not crisp and clean. The obvious intent of the author was to have a feel-good book, and that is true of this book. Good guys are really good, and they win, and the bad guys are simply goofy and they lose. There is no deep message here, even though Buddy is made into a near perfect, mythic sort of kid. The author is rather heavy-handed in trying to make Buddy physically and attitudinally excellent. But "saccharine" is the best word I can think of to describe the plot and the characters.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. This VG+ quality book was published by Goldsmith in 1936; it is 7-5/8 x 4-3/4 with 248numbered pages; there are no illustrations. The book is square, extremely clean, free of edge dings and with only tiny bumps to both lower corners and to the spine ends--none of these bumps have caused any fabric damage, just slight color loss. Except for a penciled 1937 inscription on the FFEP, the book is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very toned but is still flexible and not yet brittle; end pages have a modest amount of toning. The hinges are very strong and not damaged in any way. The very colorful VG jacket has tiny chips at the four corners and at the head and heel of the spine; it also has a small chip near the middle at the rear gutter. Considering its vivid coloration, it is remarkably free of fading. The front panel is pretty much intact. And very colorful. The obvious intent was to have a feel-good book, and that is true of this book. Good guys are really good, and they win, and the bad guys are simply goofy and they lose. There is no deep message here, even though Buddy is made into a near perfect, mythic sort of kid. The author is rather heavy-handed in trying to make Buddy physically and attitudinally excellent.
