Sir Cedric Lockwood Morris, 9th Baronet (11 December 1889 8 February 1982) was a British artist, art teacher and plantsman. He was born in Swansea in South Wales, but worked mainly in East Anglia. As an artist he is best known for his portraits, flower paintings and landscapes.

Cedric Morris (1889 - 1982) was the only person of his generation to achieve national stature both as a painter and a plantsman. As well as painting portraits, still-lifes and landscapes representing his expansive travels, Morris is best known for his flower paintings, which reveal his keen interest as a botanist - he cultivated over 90 new irises. A contemporary and friend of artists Ben and Winifred Nicholson, Paul Nash and Christopher Wood, Morris was a crucial figure in the British Modern tradition and was at the forefront of the British avant-garde. Uncommon in the trade edition, this is the very scarce signed limited edition of this work, and is number 49 of only 75 signed and numbered copies produced, flat signed by Hill and Boulestin to the limitation leaf.Drawing on Boulestin's French culinary background, the book champions the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients and encourages a thoughtful approach to seasoning.Illustrated with sixteen plates from Cedric Morris. A brilliantly Dadaist homage to Duchamp, variously in English and French, including twelve otherwise blank sheets simply headed with the months of the year, a list of puns by Duchamp (as Rrose Selavy) on the back cover, a page-and-a-half 'Introduction by "A Woman of No Importance"' (possibly Massot), and an appropriate epigraph by Gertrude Stein: 'I was looking to see if I could make Marcel out of it but I can't.' Good only, rather creased and handled, the wrappers unevenly faded and somewhat soiled, slightly spotted internally, and the staple rusty, but serviceable nonetheless and extremely rare, this example signed by the author in Paris in Spring 1924 with an inscription to 'Cedric Moriss', no doubt the British artist Cedric Morris, who was a friend of Duchamp's. Signed by Author(s).
