The genesis of the story was the attempted killing of a dog which escaped and found its way to the home of the author and his wife, who nursed it back to health. Contains the wraparound yellow band reading "The 13th Disciple." This copy inscribed and signed ("To xxx and xxxxx xxxxxxxx/with all good wishes from/Elizabeth and Sam Morse-Brown/Christmas 1978").
